You Down With DCP's?

I'm home from Rome! The hubs and I had a wonderful time walking around the city and enjoying all the sites. Everywhere we went it was like we had to just stand there for a few minutes and absorb it all. To be in the Roman Coloseum where the Emperor Nero once stood and where gladiator games and more took place...it was simply amazing.    Something that wasn't so amazing about Rome...DROP CROTCH PANTS! Since I've lived in Italy for 3 years I don't know if this trend really made it into the spotlight in the states, but this is one trend that I didn't try and I probably never will. Everywhere I looked in Rome there were drop crotch pants, we'll call them DCP's. They were on young people, old people, men, women, children....all around. Pants Yes, not the kind that are just a little baggy, but the whole crotch is just disconnecting itself like it's trying to run away. I'm sure there is someone out there who can pull these off but I look ridiculou...

Clothing? No Thanks

Is it just me or is it extremely hot right now? The bathtub is going to start taking the #1 spot on my daily to do list. Fill tub with cool water, put on bathing suit, grab a margarita, and relax. That's how hot I am! I don't swim in public pools...it really grosses me out thinking of how many little children have peed in it with a smile on their face. Friday I may need to hit up the beach, and definitely once or twice next week.     With temperatures continuing to rise, along with the humidity level, I've come to find that I want to wear as little amount of clothes as possible. Lately that means a dress, a loose maxi skirt and tank, or a skirt and tank, and I refuse any type of denim until further notice. Don't get me wrong, I love summer time, I just wish my Italian A/C would work a little better. We have 1 wall unit that's supposed to cool the entire house...never gonna happen.     Since I'm pretty sure most of America is also having a h...

Croatian Paradise

My husband and I are traveling as much as his work will allow for the month of July. As soon as I returned from the states I was in complete travel mode, from packing for our weekend trip to getting planned for the remainder of the month. So first up on our agenda...Plitvice National Park in Croatia.  One of the many waterfalls, this one I found to be pretty awesome    Plitvice National Park is the oldest national park in Croatia and was established in 1949. In 1979 it was recognized and added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. There are 16 different lakes, hundreds of waterfalls, lush forests, and a grand amount of different species (plant & animal) that make up the park. But something interesting about these waters, is that the waterfalls change their paths, frequently from what I'm told.   Everywhere you look, water is coming out of something    There's really nothing to do in this area except hike through, explore, and en...

Run It Out, Pump It Up

I love to workout...BUT if I'm running call the cops or run for your life because something or someone is after me. I didn't make a New Year's resolution really so I've decided to make one now, in July.      Resolution- Start running slowly and work my way up so that I can run longer periods of time.       WHY?       1. Running is a great cardio exercise that you can literally do anywhere. Which is great when I'm on vacations because usually we stay places without gyms.       2. It really is a total body workout. You're using the primary muscles it takes to run, as well as the supporting muscles lime your core and arms.       3. Now for the more honest reason...I don't like my knees. Lately they're just looking a little funky to me and I can't figure out why. Life also blessed me with a booty and I want to keep it in shape and perky . They say 25/26 is the age t...

A Little Bluegrass For Ya'll

Some may already know, but I am from the bluegrass state...Kentucky. Home of KFC, Daniel Boone, UK Wildcats, Maker's Mark, and the famous Derby. That being said, can you believe that I've NEVER in my 25 years of life been to any of the horse races? No Derby, no Keeneland, no Churchill Downs...until now. And WOW what an experience! I seriously bet on every single race that day and ended up coming out on top. Good thing I don't live closer or I might become a gamblin' gal. Churchill Downs in June One of the winning horses Something else I enjoyed at the track? The Derby Mint Julep...it was delicious! The first sip I almost gagged because the whiskey was so strong, but I got over it quick. LOL! Mint Julep Recipe Ingredients 10 mint leaves 1/2 teaspoons sugar 2 1/2 oz Jim Beam Kentucky Bourbon, or other bourbon crushed ice 1 oz, or more, water to taste 1. Add mint leaves to glass and muddle or crush with a spoon. Gently bruise leaves to extract mint flavor. 2...

Let's Get It Started...

WOW...it has been soooo busy these past few months!!! I just got back from traveling to the states to visit with my family for a while. I had such a wonderful time, it's always refreshing to see the family and old friends. Not to mention getting my shop on in an American mall...yea yea! I also noticed that YES, summer is officially here seeing as how the temperature was like 103 in KY and it's been in the 90's here in Italy. Beaches get ready cuz here I come! I'm super excited for this summer because we have lots of trips and stuff planned, which begin this weekend in Croatia. Also coming up is Cyprus, Paris or London, Rome, and several day trips to places more close by. I would love to know where my readers are traveling to this summer!     Not only will you be seeing more travel type posts, but also quite a bit about fitness and nutrition. I have really done bad while in the states on my vacation...but wait...aren't I allowed since I only go home like o...

Rain Makes Me Boring

Constant rain...it sucks...point blank. It has been raining every day here in Italy for about 2 1/2 weeks. April showers bring May flowers right? I sure hope so because as of right now my little garden and all my flowers are hanging on by a thread.  I'm one of those people who absolutely despises having to venture out in a downpour unless I have to. Well, all last week I was busy as ever, running around every single wet and nasty day. My (icky) computer class hit it's midpoint so I had projects and a midterm exam due.Which of course put me more behind on my usual schedule. Now that I'm pretty close to back on track, here I am again. In weather like this I can never decide what to wear. I don't want to look like a total bum, but the desire to dress up and get ready doesn't strike me either. Here's some looks that are similar to what I've been recently sporting...     What are your favorite rainy day looks?
